GALT, Calif. —

Police were looking for the gunmen who carried out a drive-by shooting that injured seven people in Sacramento County late Saturday night.

The shooting was reported a little after 10 p.m. at a home on Dover Drive in the city of Galt.

Police said the victims were leaving a “family gathering” when four people in a passing car opened fired, according to witnesses.

Responding officers arrived about 10:30 p.m. to find seven people with gunshot wounds on the front yard of a home.

The victims were taken to nearby hospitals, all of whom were treated for injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. Police said one victim had already been released from the hospital Sunday morning.

Neighbors told reporters that the gunfire sounded like fireworks

“We had some incident about five years ago, a shooting in the other corner. But this here… I don’t know if they died or…” said neighbor Rudy Adora.

Relatives of the victims returned to the home Sunday morning to hose down the blood-covered driveway but declined to comment on the shooting.

Investigators said Sunday that the motive was still unknown, but that the incident was believed to be gang-related. A description of the vehicle was not released Sunday morning.
