HERCULES, Calif. —
A fatal crash was reported on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Hercules Tuesday afternoon and was blocking all but one lane of the highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at about 2:20 p.m. on eastbound Highway 80 just west of the off-ramp to Willow Avenue, CHP Officer Scott Cakebread said.
A woman was ejected from one of the two vehicles involved in the crash, a Mercury sedan and a Jeep, Cakebread said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP reported that the woman's husband was also on scene and after he lost his composure following accident, he allegedly attacked a patrol car.
A chaplain on scene suceeded in calming the man down, according to CHP logs.
The crash blocked all eastbound lanes of the highway except for the far left one, Cakebread said. By 4 p.m., all lanes were open.
