SAN FRANCISCO —

Four men were arrested in a series of brawls outside nightclubs in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood early Sunday morning, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

Officers responded at about 1:55 a.m. Sunday to reports of fights breaking out on the sidewalks and street in the 400 block of Broadway as clubs were closing for the night, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

During one melee, an officer was hit on the head. He was treated at the scene for his injuries, Esparza said.

Thomas Bola, 26, of San Mateo, was arrested on suspicion of battery on a police officer and resisting arrest, while Francis Maka, 24, also of San Mateo, was arrested for allegedly resisting arrest, according to Esparza.

Sean Alexander Hold, 33, of Fairfield, was arrested for battery on a police officer and resisting arrest for a separate incident.

Juan Perez, a 25-year-old Daly City resident, was the fourth man arrested. He was booked on suspicion of resisting arrest and assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly kicking someone in the head, Esparza said.

That victim was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, he said.
