Fourth suspect in fatal San Jose stabbing arrested at Mexican border

SAN JOSE, Calif. —

A fourth and final suspect at large in an April 7th gang-related slaying of San Jose man has been arrested at a border crossing in the Southern California city of Calexico, authorities announced Wednesday.

Officer Jose Garcia said Ernesto Daniel Chavez was arrested for his homicide warrant in the Port of Calexico by Department of Justice Agents on May 22nd. On Wednesday, Chavez was in the Santa Clara County Jail facing homicide related charges.

Chavez, Alain Calvillo, 20; Filiberto Barreto Lopez, 20; and Francisco Bartolo Chavez, 23, allegedly were involved in the fatal stabbing of Joseph Robidoux-Cadle. Al l four are now in custody.

At approximately 4:05 p.m. on April 7, San Jose police officers responded to the 1800 block of Sarasota Way on a report of a person stabbed.

Officers located Robidoux-Cadle, 22, of San Jose, suffering from blunt force trauma and multiple stab wounds.

Robidoux-Cadle was given first aid at the scene, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The preliminary investigation along with witness information revealed a confrontation had occurred between the suspects and the victim. The suspects, who had been traveling in a white 1993 Acura Integra passenger car, exited their vehicle and chased the victim, who had been walking. The victim was attacked by the suspects and fatally injured.

Acting on the information provided by witnesses, patrol officers located the Acura Integra a short distance from the crime scene.

At approximately 11:14 p.m. the same evening, patrol and Metro officers located and arrested Calvillo, Barreto Lopez and Bartolo Chavez.

The investigation has revealed the homicide was gang-motivated. Calvillo has been booked on suspicion of being an accessory to the homicide; Lopez and Chavez were booked on suspicion of homicide.

This marks the 7th homicide of 2012 (3rd gang-related homicide of 2012).
