A 21-year-old man and a teenage girl who are suspected of robbing a 79-year-old woman at gunpoint in her Redwood City home in February have been arrested in Mexico, according to police.

Luis Martinez Trujillo and the 17-year-old girl were tracked to Mexicali and arrested by Mexican authorities on Feb. 27, according to Redwood City police.

The two suspects -- both U.S. citizens and residents of Redwood City -- were then transported to the U.S. border and transferred into the custody of U.S. law enforcement, police said.

Trujillo was booked into San Mateo County jail on suspicion of armed robbery, kidnapping, elder abuse and conspiracy.

The juvenile girl was booked into San Mateo County Juvenile Detention Center for the same offenses.

Jovanni Martinez Aguilar, 21, was arrested fleeing from the victim's house on the day of the home invasion, which took place on Feb. 7 in the 900 block of 10th Avenue, according to police.

Investigators believe that Aguilar and Trujillo entered the woman's house and held her at gunpoint while ransacking her property, police said.

The suspects eventually locked the woman in a bedroom, where she was able to contact police.

Responding officers apprehended Aguilar at the scene, police said.

Trujillo and the juvenile female were identified as suspects through a subsequent investigation, police said.

The pair were tracked to Mexico and taken into custody through a coordinated effort of the Redwood City Police Department, the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office, the U.S. Marshal's' Office and the Baja State Police.
