OAKLAND, Calif. —

A 49-year-old man was killed in a crash in Richmond early Sunday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

Richmond resident Jimmy Jinter was driving west on Esmond Avenue when he lost control of his vehicle near 15th Street, police Lt. Lori Curran said.

Jinter was apparently driving at high speed and his vehicle went airborne after striking several parked cars, Curran said.

He was declared dead at the scene.

No one else was injured, and Jinter was the only person in his vehicle.

The crash was still under investigation Sunday afternoon.
