HAYWARD, Calif. —

Police were searching for the driver in a hit-and-run crash in Hayward Saturday morning that reportedly left a child injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses called the CHP around 12:25 p.m. to report that a driver at the intersection of Vallejo St and Sunset Blvd crashed into an occupied parked car and fled the scene without stopping, according to the CHP.

The driver of the parked car reportedly exited the vehicle with an injured child and left the area on foot toward Sunset Blvd.

It appeared that the child was not in a car seat at the time of the crash, the CHP was reporting.

The extent of the child's injuries was not immediately known and no further details were available.
