LOS GATOS, Calif. —

Newly released surveillance video of a Tuesday armed robbery at a Los Gatos jewelry store showed a harrowing scene reminiscent of other recent smash-and-grab jobs that have happened around the Bay Area.

Surveillance cameras captured the crime as two armed masked men targeted Blacy's Fine Jewelers in Los Gatos.

Owner Jeanette Blacy talked to KTVU about the frightening incident Wednesday. Still shaken, she asked that her face not be shown on camera.

"It was very scary because he was waving the gun all over and pointing at us and making us lay down," said Blacy.

Among those inside during the robbery were a customer and her newborn baby. A stroller can be seen at the bottom of the screen in the video.

The thieves didn't stray from their mission, smashing three cases with a sledgehammer before raiding the safe. They took all of the store's most valuable jewels.

"They knew exactly what they wanted," said Blacy.

Police told KTVU they think the robbers may have done this before.

In recent weeks, there have been similar cases at jewelry stores around the Bay Area. Various police departments are working together, looking for clues to connect the crimes.

"You know that the way these things get broken is we have a piece of information, another jurisdiction may have a piece of information, somebody knows something and we put it all together," said Los Gatos Police Sgt. Kerry Harris.

In this case, the grey VW Jetta used as a getaway car was found four blocks away near the Los Gatos Creek Trail. Police hope someone in the area around 12 p.m. Tuesday might have spotted something.

"We know somebody knows who these people are," said Harris.

The whole crime took one minute and 15 seconds, leaving staff's nerves shattered along with the jewelry cases.

Both Blacy and authorities hope the thieves get caught before somebody gets hurt.

"They make no bones about getting what they want," said Blacy. "And I don't think they care what they have to do to get it."

Los Gatos police ask anyone with information on the Tuesday robbery to contact them. Blacy's Fine Jewelers is insured and hopes to be open for business again in a few days.
