Man arrested for allegedly burglarizing Monterey Co. classroom

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. —

A man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly stealing laptop computers from an elementary school in San Lucas, according to the county sheriff's office.

Sheriff's deputies responded around 7 a.m. Sunday to a reported burglary to a classroom at San Lucas Elementary School at 53675 San Benito Street, sheriff's officials said.

The deputies found that someone had stolen laptop computers from a classroom.

Further investigation led deputies to a Soledad resident suspected of stealing the computers.

Deputies located 30-year-old Alejandro Ortero and found him to be in possession of the computers stolen from the classroom as well as burglary tools, according to the sheriff's office.

Otero was arrested and taken to Monterey County Jail.
