HAYWARD, Calif. —

A 39-year-old man has been convicted of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10 and other charges for molesting a seven-year-old girl in Union City in October 2010.

In a verdict reached on Wednesday, jurors also convicted Edward Leite of four counts of lewd and lascivious acts against a child 14-years of age or younger and one count of possession or control of child pornography.

His convictions mean that Leite will face a state prison term of 75 years to life when he's sentenced by Alameda County Superior Court Judge Roy Hashimoto on April 2.

Prosecutors said that on Oct. 30, 2010, the girl's mother allowed Leite to take the girl to a Halloween party.

They said that after the party, Leite carried the little girl to one of the bedrooms at his home and told her to undress and take a shower and get into the bed.

Leite then joined the girl on the bed and asked her if they could play "horsey," which was a code word for sexual contact with the girl, prosecutors said.

During that act the girl suffered an injury to her private parts and when her mother returned to the house and the girl disclosed her injury, according to prosecutors.

The mother then called Union City police and Leite was arrested.

When police searched Leite's home they recovered two computers and two DVDs in his sock drawer, prosecutors said.

They said the DVDs were filmed by Leite, whose face can be seen in the first frames setting up the camera, and showed footage of the girl and a young boy engaged in sexual contact.

The Alameda County sheriff's crime lab ultimately found almost 200 child porn videos and photographs on Leite's two computers, prosecutors said.
