OAKLAND, Calif. —

A man is being treated at a hospital for life-threatening injuries after being shot during an apparent home-invasion robbery in East Oakland Thursday morning, according to police.

Sgt. Chris Bolton said officers responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 1700 block of 79th Avenue, near Lockwood Street, at about 9:50 a.m.

They found the man suffering from a gunshot wound and were told by witnesses that he was shot during the commission of a home-invasion robbery, Bolton said.

Bolton said police are still investigating the circumstances of the shooting and that it is not yet clear if the wounded man is a suspect in the home invasion.

However, he said, "There's no suspect outstanding at this time."
