HAYWARD, Calif. —

A man was killed in a traffic collision in Hayward Wednesday night.

A blue Ford Mustang slammed into the driver's side door of a dark blue Nissan pickup truck at the intersection of Hesperian and Industrial boulevards at about 9:30 p.m., police said.

The driver of the Nissan, a man in his late 50s, was driving west on Industrial Boulevard and entered the intersection at the same time the Mustang, which was heading north on Hesperian Boulevard, police said.

The Mustang, which had two occupants in it, struck the Nissan and both cars came to a stop, according to police.

The driver of the Nissan, whose identity had not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Neither occupant in the Mustang was injured.

Police said it was unknown if impairment played a factor in the collision.

The incident was still under investigation Thursday morning.
