Man fatally shot while driving near Alamo Square

SAN FRANCISCO —

A San Francisco man who was fatally shot on Saturday in the city's Alamo Square neighborhood has been identified as 26-year-old Jamal Gaines, according to the medical examiner's office.

Gaines was driving a black four-door vehicle in the area of Fillmore and Geary around 5:30 p.m. when a suspect fired multiple shots at him, according to Officer Gordon Shyy.

The victim's car crashed into a parked vehicle, and the suspect ran to a white or silver vehicle and fled the area, Shyy said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 6:15 p.m.

No one has been arrested, according to police.
