OAKLEY, Calif. —

A man was stabbed during a robbery after taking a run in an Oakley
park on Tuesday evening, East Bay Regional Park District police said.

The victim, a 58-year-old Pinole man, was accosted in the parking
lot of the Big Break Regional Shoreline at about 6:45 p.m. just after
finishing his run, police said.

The attacker, described as a boy between 14 and 16 years old who
was wearing a white mask, demanded money and stabbed the victim in the arm,
according to police.

The suspect then fled and the victim chased him for a short
distance before losing sight of him the darkness and fog, according to
police.

A friend drove the victim to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in
Antioch, where he was treated for a stab wound and blood loss. He was
released later that evening, police said.

The suspect is described as about 5 feet 8 inches tall and
weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans,
sneakers and a white mask.

He was last seen running west toward Big Break Road, police said.

Anyone who was at the park on Tuesday evening or has information
about the stabbing is asked to call police at (510) 881-1833.
