SAN JOSE, Calif. —

A man and a woman were found shot to death in an East San Jose home Thursday afternoon from an apparent murder-suicide, according to police.

The shooting was reported around 4:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Bermuda Way, police said.

The two people killed were once boyfriend and girlfriend and had broken up a few weeks ago, but were still living in the home together.

Police said the man shot the woman, before shooting himself.

“When you put a male and a female together on Valentine’s Day in a bedroom, murder-suicide, it appears to be some type of romantically motivated crime of passion,” said San Jose police Sgt., Jason Dwyer.

Ten people live in the home on Bermuda Avenue renting rooms.

One of the other residents was in the house with the two when the shooting happened and called police after going downstairs and finding the two dead, Dwyer said.

Police have not yet identified the two killed, but said the suspect was about 30 years old and the woman he killed was in her early twenties.

One elderly couple is among those who rented rooms at the house.

“I was a soldier in Vietnam,” said Ba Huynh. “I used to fight and hear that gun noises.  Today it brings back memories.”

The house is in a suburban neighborhood across the street from William C. Overfelt High School.

Police said they have recovered the weapon.
