MARTINEZ, Calif. —

A man was arrested after shooting at an unoccupied car in Martinez early Friday morning, police said.

Police responded to several reports of shots fired in the 3400 block of Sentinel Dr at about 12:40 a.m., police said.

When officers arrived, they were rerouted to the 100 block of Wawona Circle after a man called advising police he shot at a friend, according to police.

As the friend approached a home, Brian Hope, 47, shot at his car, police said.

Hope fired several rounds from his rifle at the victim's car, but did not shoot at the friend, according to police.

Police investigators determined Hope's friend went to the house to collect on a possible drug debt he was owed.

Hope was arrested on suspicion of shooting at an unoccupied car, police said.
