OAKLAND, Calif. —

An active manhunt, on the ground and air, was underway late Monday night for two suspects who allegedly shot an undercover police officer earlier that evening, officials said.

According to police, an undercover officer was in the 1700 block of Seminary Avenue just after 6 p.m. following up on a shooting from Sunday when he was shot in the arm by three suspects.

The Oakland police officer's injuries were not considered life-threatening and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

Police said one person, who is believed to be a suspect, has been detained by police.

Police and SWAT team officers had their guns drawn Monday night and were receiving helicopter assistance from the California Highway Patrol, in addition to help from BART police, as they searched for the two suspects.

The area around the shooting scene, which spanned six blocks along Seminary Avenue, was shut down and access to the area has been restricted.

No evacuation orders have been issued for the neighborhood.

Police are warning residents that the suspects are armed and dangerous.

No description of the suspects has been made available by police.

Police have asked residents in the area who may have seen something suspicious to call 911 or (510) 777-3211.
