Oakland Police investigating city's first homicide of 2013

OAKLAND, Calif. —

One person was shot and killed in East Oakland Monday afternoon, the city's first homicide of 2013, according to police.

The shooting was reported at 12:47 p.m. near the corner of 73rd Avenue and Hamilton Street, Officer J. Moore said.

Three people in a car were shot at, and one was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene. The other two passengers were uninjured, Moore said.

No suspects were immediately identified.
