One injured in East Oakland shooting

OAKLAND, Calif. —

Police were investigating a shooting in East Oakland Monday evening that sent one person to the hospital.

The shooting was reported at 7:57 p.m. in the 8000 block of Crest Avenue. The victim ran from the scene as the suspects fled in a vehicle.

Police said the man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds just before 8 p.m. on Sunkist Drive near McCormick Avenue.

Authorities said he was shot in the back from a passing vehicle.  He was transported to a hospital and reported to be in stable but critical condition, according to police.

Neighbors told KTVU they heard about 30 rounds from what sounded like an automatic assault rifle.

Police were on the scene collecting evidence into the evening. No suspect description was available.
