OAKLAND, Calif. —

Police were investigating a shooting that killed a teenager and left another injured late Friday night in the vicinity of the Oakland Art Murmur gallery walk, according to Oakland police.

The shooting occurred in the area of 23rd St and Telegraph Ave at about 10:51 p.m., police said.

According to police, one person was pronounced dead at the scene and homicide units were on scene.

Another person was injured in the shooting and transported to an area hospital. The victim's condition was not released.

Police are still investigating the incident and so far no arrests have been made.

A few artists said Saturday they were curious as to what sparked the shooting, but stressed it happened after their event was over.

Dustin Page, owner of Platinum Dirt gallery, said he was disappointed about last night's shooting that occurred blocks from his gallery.

“It seemed the art walk has kind of been distracted by what’s been going on Telegraph,” Page said.

Page is referring to the First Friday street festival, which combined with the Oakland Art Murmur, has drawn tens of thousands to Downtown Oakland recently.

The shooting took place a few hours after both events were over.

The Oakland Art Murmur's board president Marshall Lamm said dueing a phone interview the note on their website expressed their prayers for the victims’ families.

“I've lived in Oakland 15 years and there is always sad days,” Lamm said. “This just feels sadder.”

The note goes said the Art Murmur can still offer a positive, cultural experience for visitors.
