OAKLAND, Calif. —

A victim in an armed robbery involving three suspects that fled toward westbound Interstate Highway 580 and 35th Avenue Monday afternoon was hospitalized, an Oakland police sergeant said.

Oakland police Sgt. Chris Bolton said westbound Highway 580 reopened around 4 p.m. after intermittent closures following a short police pursuit to the area from the scene of an armed robbery in the 4200 block of Redwood Road around 12:30 p.m.

A victim injured during the robbery was hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.

After an officer witnessed the robbery, the three suspects in a vehicle fled toward 35th Avenue and the highway, Bolton said.

One suspect was arrested around 1:30 p.m. in 3500 block of Quigley Street, Bolton said, while the second was taken into custody closer to the highway and 35th Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

The search is continuing on city streets as of 4 p.m. in the area surrounding 35th, Laurel and Midvale avenues, Dakota, Delaware and Georgia streets and MacArthur Boulevard for the third and final robbery suspect believed to be hiding near there.

Police also recovered a weapon from the suspects, police said.

Authorities are advising residents in the area about possible street closures during the search.
