PLEASANT HILL, Calif. —

Pleasant Hill Police say a hostage situation at a local fast food restaurant ended without incident Saturday morning.

The incident began around 5:30 a.m. at the Jack In The Box on Contra Costa Blvd when the man, armed with a knife, reportedly attempted to rob the restaurant.

When officers arrived minutes later, they learned that the suspect was holding an employee at knife point in the establishment’s office.

Police set up a perimeter around the restaurant, and escorted some of the employees and customers outside.

After an hour, the suspect exited the restaurant on his own volition and surrendered to the authorities.

Officers arrested the man, identified as 41-year-old Pittsburg resident Samuel Guerrero, on suspicion of robbery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and kidnapping for ransom.

No injuries were reported and the incident was still under investigation Saturday.
