Police arrest suspect who fled traffic stop

PALO ALTO, Calif. —

 Police have arrested man who fled from a traffic stop into a Palo Alto neighborhood Thursday afternoon, prompting a nearly two-hour search.

At about 1:30 p.m., the suspect ran from his car in the area of Hawthorne Avenue and Waverley Street, a Palo Alto police dispatcher said.

Officers searched the neighborhood and arrested the man at about 3:25 p.m.

He was described as a black man with a shaved head between 35 and 40 years old and about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a white shirt and black pants.

Further details about the arrest were not immediately available.
