Police ID man found bound, gagged in SF neighborhood

SAN FRANCISCO —

A man who died after he and a woman were found bound and gagged in the middle of a street in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley neighborhood on Sunday night has been identified by the medical examiner's office as 26-year-old Stephen Reid.

Reid and the woman were found at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the 900 block of Brussels Street, police said.

Both were alive when they were found and were taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where Reid later succumbed to his injuries, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

The woman, who police said is in her late teens, was in critical condition as of Monday, Esparza said.

Police are treating the death as a homicide, but have not released information on a possible motive or other details.
