Police investigate two Oakland shootings, one fatal

OAKLAND, Calif. —

Oakland police are investigating two separate shootings, one fatal, that occurred over two days

The most recent shooting happened at about 2:30 p.m. Christmas day near 24th Street and Chestnut Street in West Oakland.

Police said the victim, a 32-year-old man, had been standing on 24th Street when a suspect approached him in a vehicle, got out and fired several rounds.

The victim ran, and the suspect got back in the car, followed him and then got out of the car again and opened fire.

The victim was struck by gunfire and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 3 p.m.

Police did not have any additional details about the suspect in the case.

Across town, police were investigating a shooting that happened near a church Monday night.

Police said a man and woman were taken to the hospital after they were shot around 9 p.m. on MacArthur Boulevard not far from 82nd Avenue.

Both victims were in stable condition.

Police said they have no suspects at this time.
