Police make arrest in connection with SF Sunday morning homicide

SAN FRANCISCO —

Police in San Francisco on Monday arrested a man in connection with a homicide on Sunday morning, police said.

Andre Reid, 28, of San Francisco, who police believe stabbed and killed Eric Avila, 52, of San Francisco on Sunday, was spotted in the 2600 block of Mission Street at about 6:10 p.m.

He was then arrested on suspicion of the murder, police said.

The stabbing happened near 25th and Connecticut streets in the city's Potrero Hill neighborhood at about 2 a.m., police said.

Avila was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The murder remains under investigation, police said.
