San Mateo police search for bank robber who fled with cash

SAN MATEO, Calif. —

 San Mateo police are searching for a man who robbed a San Mateo bank Thursday morning.

Police responded to a Chase bank at 1730 S. El Camino Real around 10:55 a.m.

Bank employees told police no weapons were seen during the robbery and the lone suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

Police searched the area but did not find the suspect.

The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, unshaven, standing about 6 feet tall with a medium to muscular build. He was last seen wearing blue running pants and a light-colored baseball cap.

Surveillance photos show the man approaching the teller with his hands in his pockets.
