DALY CITY, Calif. —

A San Francisco man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after he drove his car down a 100-foot embankment in Daly City early Tuesday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Around 3:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a car over an embankment near Carter Street and Guadalupe Canyon Parkway, at the edge of San Bruno Mountain State Park, CHP Officer Tony Tam said.

Firefighters, including a rescue unit from the North County Fire Authority, had to clear a large amount of brush in order to reach the victim, who was trapped in the car, Tam said.

After about two hours, the victim was extricated and brought back to the top of the embankment, Tam said.

The victim, identified as Jin Xiong, suffered minor injuries and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.

He was arrested for DUI at the hospital, Tam said.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved in the crash.
