SAN FRANCISCO —

As the sixth anniversary of the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in San Francisco's North of Panhandle neighborhood approaches, police were reaching out to the public Monday for help in solving the cold case.

Aubrey Abrakasa was gunned down at 3:14 p.m. on Aug. 14, 2006, at the intersection of Grove and Baker streets.

Abrakasa was a star high school basketball player and was about to start his senior year at Raoul Wallenberg Traditional High School when he was killed.

His mother, Paulette Brown, was expected to be handing out fliers at Grove and Baker streets on Tuesday afternoon with information about the case to help police in their investigation.

The mayor's office has authorized a reward of up to $250,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Department's homicide detail at (415) 553-1145, the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 and begin the text with the letters "SFPD."
