The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible attempted kidnapping of a teenaged girl that happened Saturday near a popular park, deputies said.
Deputies responded to a report of the attempted kidnapping at a Taco Bell on Hwy 12 and Verano Ave. at around 6 p.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. Spencer Crum.
A 15-year-old girl reported that she was walking home from Maxwell Park when a dark green Lexus sedan pulled up next to her and stopped, Crum said. Four African-American men exited the car and confronted her. They called her cute and told her to get in their car, deputies said.
One suspect grabbed her arm and tried to get her in the car but she managed to escape and fell to the sidewalk and then ran back to Maxwell Park where her family members were located.
