OAKLAND, Calif. —

Firefighters rescued two people trapped inside a minivan after a hit-and-run crash in Oakland late Saturday night.

Police received reports of the crash near Interstate 880’s 29th avenue exit at around 10:15 p.m.

Witnesses say a speeding car couldn't make a turn and slammed into that minivan which had briefly stopped near the intersection.

A couple of people were trapped inside the minivan but firefighters were able to pull them out some time later.

Several passengers from the van were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. As of late Sunday morning, their conditions were unknown.

Police say three people in the speeding car ran from the scene and were wanted by authorities.

The crash was still under investigation Sunday morning.
