Oakland police pursued a stolen car suspect through the streets of East Oakland Monday night.
The chase ended with the suspect being taken into custody, but not before he crashed the car and injured a pedestrian, Officer J. Moore said.
Officers first tried to stop the suspect in a car reported stolen near the intersection of 60th and Bancroft avenues at 8:07 p.m. and ended nearly a mile and a half away in the 4200 block of Bond Street.
The pedestrian injured was transported to a hospital with a complaint of pain.
Watchdogs are questioning an exclusive agreement between the City of Oakland and a non-profit group, tapped to lead a multi-million dollar project to redevelop the area around the Coliseum BART station.
