PITTSBURG, Calif. —

Pittsburg Police announced early Tuesday that officers had made an arrest in a hit-and-run accident that sent a woman and two children to the hospital the evening before.

Around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, officers informed KTVU that 24-year-old Pittsburg resident Noe Delgado had been located and arrested for suspicion of felony hit-and-run blocks away from where he abandoned his car after the accident, Lt. Ron Raman said.

According to police, the incident happened at around 5:45 p.m. on Crestview Dr, where a 29-year-old woman was walking in the crosswalk with two kids – one, a 7-year-old girl, was on a bicycle and the other, her one-year-old nephew, was in a stroller -- when Delgado reportedly hit them and sped off.

Emergency crews airlifted one of the children, while ambulances took the other two victims to a local hospital. As of Tuesday morning, the children had been treated and released from the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while the woman was still being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Raman.

Delgado’s car was found a short distance from the accident, and he was arrested after he was seen walking away from the car and was identified by witnesses.

He was booked into a Contra Costa County jail in Martinez, where he was being held Tuesday on $50,000 bail, according to Raman.

Delgado is the registered owner of the car and it was unclear how fast he was going at the time of the accident. Raman said it was unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Neighbors told KTVU on Monday night that they weren't surprised by what happened. They said cars fly down this stretch of Crestview all the time. To make matters worse, visibility is reduced because of the complete lack of streetlights.

“It's so sad to hear about, but I'm really not surprised,” said Julie Young, who lives steps away from where the accident occurred. “They're going too fast. Everybody just needs to slow down a little bit!”

“They've had rollovers. They've had collisions,” said neighbor Ron Renfrow.
