A 25-year-old San Jose man has been arrested in Sunnyvale’s first homicide of year – the slaying of a bouncer outside of a local nightclub, authorities announced Wednesday.
A Sunnyvale police spokesman said Steven Craig Bowie Jr. was taken into custody without incident at his home at 6 p.m. Tuesday. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on murder and other charges.
Early Sunday morning, Sunnyvale police responded to a shooting call at the Peacock Lounge located at 102 E. Fremont Ave.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim in the front parking lot. Emergency medical treatment was provided, but the victim was declared dead at the scene. A short time later, a local hospital also notified Sunnyvale police that there was a shooting victim being treated at their facility.
Officers quickly determined that that individual has also been shot while at the Peacock Lounge. This victim was treated and released.
