SAN JOSE, Calif. —

A man who led police on a chase from the peninsula to the east bay and south bay has been arrested after a crash in San Jose.

The CHP says it tried to pull over the driver of this van Sunday morning in Redwood City for talking on a cell phone and weaving.

The man drove to Hayward, then to San Jose.

Officers set out spike strips on I-880 at First Street.

The van hit the strips, moved to the shoulder, hit a call box and then crashed into a tree near Coleman Ave.

An ambulance took him to the hospital, where he would be checked for DUI.
