ALAMEDA, Calif. —

Following a lengthy investigation, police have identified and arrested two suspects in connection with the mugging of an elderly woman in a residential neighborhood in Alameda in August.

On Aug. 13, 2012, an elderly woman was walking near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Wood Street in Alameda when a female suspect approached her, police said.

The suspect pushed the elderly woman to the ground, took her purse and fled the area, police said.

The victim was not seriously injured, according to police.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect at the time of the robbery.

The Alameda Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit conducted an investigation and identified a 26-year-old female resident of Oakland as a suspect in the robbery.

Police arrested the female suspect and a 34-year-old transient male accomplice for robbery and elder abuse.
