A 13-year-old boy who was shot in East Oakland Tuesday morning was being treated at a local hospital for a serious gunshot wound, police said.
Sgt. Chris Bolton said Oakland police received a call at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday that the boy had been dropped off at the local hospital after he was shot.
Bolton said police then contacted the boy at the hospital and wereinvestigating the incident.
The boy told police that the shooting happened in the 1300 block of 66th Avenue at about 7:30 a.m., Officer J. Moore said.
But police were able to determine a few details about the shooting and why it took the boy about two hours to arrive at the hospital as he has been uncooperative with the investigation, Moore said that evening.
The victim was still at the hospital in guarded condition that evening, according to Moore.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Oakland police at (510) 238-7230.
