FAIRFIELD, Calif. —
Two of three suspects have been arrested following an altercation over a dog that resulted in a teen getting shot in Fairfield, according to police.
Kenneth Taylor, 22, of Fairfield, and Bryana Mitchell, 21, of Suisun City, are in custody following the shooting.
Police are searching for a third male suspect, who remains unidentified.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire at 12:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Dana Drive, near the Solano Mall shopping center.
Upon arrival, officers located the juvenile victim with a gunshot wound to his hand and a minor bullet graze to his head.
The preliminary investigation revealed that three suspects were engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim, outside the victim's apartment over the ownership of a dog, police said.
Taylor allegedly attempted to force entry into the victim's apartment to retrieve the dog.
According to the police investigation, the two male suspects began to physically fight with the victim.
The victim was armed with a handgun and during the fight, the victim's gun discharged and struck the victim in the hand and grazed his head.
The unidentified suspect took the gun from the victim, police said.
Mitchell and Taylor took the dog and an undisclosed amount of marijuana from inside the victim's apartment, according to police.
The vehicle used by the suspects was located and processed for evidence, police said.
Taylor and Mitchell were booked into the Solano County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and theft of a firearm.
The gun has not been recovered, police said.
