Three arrested in alleged Petaluma kidnapping

PETALUMA, Calif. —

Police arrested three suspects in connection with an armed kidnapping in Petaluma Monday night.

A citizen reported that she saw a man kidnapped at gunpoint from his residence in the 600 block of Sixth Street at 8:55 p.m.

The witness provided police with a description of the suspects and the vehicle in which they kidnapped the man, police said.

Upon arrival at the scene, police located the vehicle fleeing the area. Police stopped the vehicle nearby the residence and located the victim inside the suspect vehicle.

Upon searching the suspect vehicle, police found a loaded handgun used in the kidnapping, as well as an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine.

Upon further investigation, police discovered that the suspects threatened to harm the victim's family members during the kidnapping.

No injuries were reported, according to police.

Police arrested Genoveva Ramirez, 28, of Santa Rosa, Eduardo Hernandez, 32, of Sebastopol and Raul Atilano-Lopez, 29, of Penngrove.

All three suspects were booked into the Sonoma County Jail for kidnapping, conspiracy, robbery, carrying a loaded weapon, possession and transportation of methamphetamine.

Additionally, Ramirez was booked for assault with a deadly weapon, terrorist threats, and for carrying a firearm when he had previously been prohibited by a court from doing so.

The three suspects are being held on $5 million bail, according to police.
