OAKLAND, Calif. —

Four victims died in four separate shooting incidents in Oakland Friday, police said.

The shootings spanned different neighborhoods in Oakland, from West Oakland to deep East Oakland and all took place within a span of about six hours starting Friday afternoon.

The most recent was reported at 8:15 p.m. in the 9400 block of Hillside Street in East Oakland.

A male victim suffering from a gunshot wound was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. No details about the victim or any possible suspects were released.

That afternoon, three fatal shootings were reported within about three hours of each other.

In West Oakland, a shooting was reported at 4:16 p.m. in the 3400 block of West Street in West Oakland.

Police responded to reports of shots fired and learned that a man injured in that shooting was helped to a hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead there, police said.

Just over an hour earlier, a man was found dead of gunshot wounds near Dimond Park in Oakland's Glenview district, police said.

A citizen called police at 3:04 p.m. to report that a man was down at Canon Ave and Wellington St, according to police.

The Oakland Fire Department responded and discovered that the man was already dead, police said.

In addition, the victim in an unrelated shooting reported at 2:33 p.m. today in the 2300 block of East 17th Street in the city's Fruitvale district has died.

He was initially reported to be awake and conscious, but police later said that he had succumbed to his injuries.

Police had not announced any arrests in the four shootings by Friday evening.

The four fatal shootings that day made six since Monday, after no homicides were reported in the first week of 2013.

Oakland had 131 homicides in 2012, including five that were ruled to be justifiable.
