A Santa Rosa man who used the moniker "SLICK1" when he vandalized his neighbors' vehicles was sentenced to six months in jail and three years' probation Friday in Sonoma County Superior Court.

Vincent McCarthy, 23, also was ordered to pay nearly $19,000 restitution to the 22 victims of the tire-slashing spree in the Santa Rosa Junior College neighborhood in September and October.

Among the vandalism victims were McCarthy's father, the mother of his child, her parents and an ex-girlfriend, according to Santa Rosa police.

Judge Kenneth Gnoss also ordered McCarthy to attend a substance abuse treatment program after he completes his county jail term and 80 hours of community service. Gnoss said the vandalism was related to McCarthy's drug use.

McCarthy pleaded guilty last month to three of the 10 felony vandalism charges. The remaining charges were dismissed at sentencing this morning.

McCarthy wrote "SLICK1" on or near some of the vandalized vehicles, Santa Rosa police said.

Police started receiving reports about the tire slashings and graffiti vandalism on Sept. 14 and logged 62 cases of vandalism up to Oct. 20.

Police searched McCarthy's residence in the 1500 block of Orchard Street in the junior college neighborhood and found graffiti evidence linking him to "SLICK1".

They also recovered clothing McCarthy wore while he tagged windows of a business on Lewis Street. Security video showed McCarthy's clothes but not his face.

Police also used McCarthy's cell phone records to place him in the area of the vandalisms on the night they occurred.
