PINOLE, Calif. —

A suspect was arrested Friday after allegedly pointing a gun at a teller at a bank in Pinole, demanding money and then fleeing in a vehicle parked outside, police said Saturday.

At about 4:30 p.m., the Pinole Police Department received a call of a hold-up alarm at Mechanics Bank, located at 2690 Pinole Valley Road, in the Pinole Valley Shopping Center.

The suspect entered the bank, jumped on the teller counter and told everyone inside the bank to get on the floor, police said.

The suspect then pointed the gun at the teller, demanded money from the cash drawer, put it in a bag and fled.

The suspect vehicle was located by officers on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Vallejo. The driver of the vehicle and the suspect were both taken into custody, and the money and a stolen gun were recovered.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact Pinole police at (510) 724-8950.
