Two people were killed and two others wounded in a late Friday night shooting on an East Oakland street, authorities said.
The fatal 10:50 p.m. shooting took place just half a mile from the scene of a Thursday night shooting that left a woman dead and a man critically wounded. Investigators have not disclosed if the two shootings were related.
The outbreak of deadly violence has come in the wake of Oakland police announcing a crackdown and staging a sweep targeting street crime.
The latest incident took place in the 400 block of 105th Ave.
Arriving officers found one person dead at the scene, a second with a fatal wound who later died at the hospital and a third with critical wounds. A fourth victim was transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
Police have not released any suspect information or a motive for the shooting.
Watchdogs are questioning an exclusive agreement between the City of Oakland and a non-profit group, tapped to lead a multi-million dollar project to redevelop the area around the Coliseum BART station.
