SAN JOSE, Calif. —

A 23-year-old woman was arrested Friday in connection with a gang-motivated shooting death of a teenage boy in a residential area west of downtown San Jose on Nov. 30, police said.

Rebecca Michelle Villanueva, of San Jose, was taken into custody as one of the  people suspected of taking part in the murder of Daniel Capetillo, 17, who was gunned down on Pacific Avenue that night, police said.

The San Jose Police Department's communications center received an emergency call at 11:33 p.m. on Nov. 30 to the 900 block of Pacific Avenue where they found Capetillo wounded, police said.

The San Jose man died a short time later, becoming the city's 43rd homicide this year, police said.

Detectives believe the shooting was related to gang activity and allege Villanueva did not act alone.

San Jose police are asking anyone with information about the murder to contact the homicide unit at (408) 277-5283, or to remain anonymous, call Silicon Valley Crimestoppers at (408) 947-7867.
