FREMONT, Calif. —

A woman who was allegedly caught on camera brazenly snatching packages from a Fremont front porch last fall was arrested Wednesday, a Fremont police spokeswoman said.

Danielle Gonsalves, a 32-year-old Oakland resident, was arrested in the 9700 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland around noon in connection with a midday package theft on Nov. 17, police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said.

On that day homeowners caught on surveillance camera footage a woman grabbing items left by a UPS delivery on the porch of the home in the 4500 block of Meyer Park Circle in Fremont.

The homeowners sent the video to Fremont police who were eventually able to identify Gonsalves as a suspect.

Police posted the video on YouTube last November where the footage was viewed more than 8,000 times and led to several tips, Bosques said.

At the time of her arrest she was allegedly found with stolen mail, credit cards, and IDs. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on suspicion of petty theft, identity theft and a felony probation violation.

Investigators are working to return recovered stolen items to other victims believed to have been affected by Gonsalves, Bosques said.
