Fiona Ma To Introduce Bill To Bring JROTC Back To SF

SAN FRANCISCO —

Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, D-San Francisco, will announce Thursday her introduction of a bill in the state Legislature requiring San Francisco public high schools to reinstate the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps.

The school board for the San Francisco Unified School District voted 4-2 in November 2006 to cancel the JROTC program.

Ma's office said she will submit a bill requiring the program to be reinstated and giving JROTC participants physical education credit for graduation.

The announcement is scheduled to take place at 3:45 p.m. at Lowell High School, 1101 Eucalyptus Drive.
