RICHMOND, Calif. —
A San Pablo city councilman was knocked unconscious last week when he was attacked in Richmond, a police lieutenant said.
City Councilman Paul Morris, who is a property manager, went to meet a tenant of a single-family home he manages in the 1500 block of San Joaquin Street at about 1:30 p.m. on July 3, Richmond police Lt. Bisa French said.
The tenant, whose name has not been released, allegedly pushed Morris, causing him to fall backward and hit his head on the concrete, knocking him unconscious, French said.
When Morris regained consciousness, he was in the passenger seat of his car at Golden Gate Fields in Berkeley, French said. Morris called police to report the incident just before 3 p.m.
He was transported to an Oakland hospital where he was treated for his head injury.
Police have a person of interest in the case, but no arrests have been made, French said.
