Firefighters responded to a second alarm vegetation fire in a hilly part of Larkspur this afternoon, Marin County fire officials said Sunday.
The fire was reported above Sunrise Lane near Marina Vista Avenue in Larkspur around 4 p.m., according to officials with the Larkspur and San Rafael fire departments. Located in a hilly area with heavy brush, it grew quickly to several acres.
The fire was brought under control within around an hour, in part due to the help of Cal Fire aircraft and favorable conditions including light winds and higher humidity, officials said.
No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.
The fire's cause remained under investigation Sunday evening.
Watchdogs are questioning an exclusive agreement between the City of Oakland and a non-profit group, tapped to lead a multi-million dollar project to redevelop the area around the Coliseum BART station.
