Officials from Asiana Airlines announced Monday that the airline was flying in families of Flight 214 crash victims from Korea and China to San Francisco.
Two Korean family members left for the U.S. Sunday and another four were expected to leave Monday, along with four more family members Wednesday.
The airline was also providing flight services for 12 Chinese family members and six Chinese government officials who are leaving from Shangahi with a stop in Incheon, South Korea, Monday.
Asiana said it would provide any necessary airfare and lodging for passengers and their families.
A U.S. telephone line for any inquires about the flight was available at (855) 422-7214, Asiana officials said.
In a statement posted Monday, the airline company said, "Asiana Airlines deeply regrets this accident and is dedicating great efforts to support and ensure a swift and thorough investigation."
Officials from the Korean Consulate in San Francisco said they were issuing temporary passports for Korean travelers that lost theirs or any other travel documents in the crash.
The consulate was staying open 24/7 and was located at 3500 Clay St. in San Francisco. The phone number is 415-921-2251.
Korean officials were also collecting donations for a fund going to crash victims and their families.
Watchdogs are questioning an exclusive agreement between the City of Oakland and a non-profit group, tapped to lead a multi-million dollar project to redevelop the area around the Coliseum BART station.
