LIVERMORE, Calif. —
Authorities have discovered the body of a missing kayaker in Livermore's Lake Del Valle.
The Contra Costa Times reports that lifeguards found 30-year-old Michael Perez' body about 100 feet from the shore.
Perez disappeared into the water on June 16 while kayaking with his sister.
The Mountain House man had removed his life vest, left his boat and swam to shore. Authorities said he started struggling and calling for his vest on his swim back to the kayak.
He disappeared beneath the surface.
East Bay Regional Park District spokeswoman Emily Hopkins says Perez' death is being investigated as a drowning.
